Ricoh supplies 1,000-page starter cartridges, and even those will last you way longer than any standard inkjet cartridges. Fewer discarded cartridges will end up in landfills this way. Truthfully, that's a greener option as well. I found a bunch of compatible ones on Ebay, some as low as $40 (for all four colors). Thankfully, there's an alternative: toner refill kits. An entire set (four cartridges) could run you as much as $200. That said, I did a little shopping for C250DN-compatible toner and came away with sticker shock. It's lower on the Ricoh printer than most other models. In any case, read what PC Mag had to say about the cost per page. Usually a higher number is indicative of more features, and they certainly look and sound identical. PC Mag covered the SP C242DN and gave it mostly high marks, but I'm not sure of the differences between that printer and this one.

Today, however, you can get one for less up front: Adorama once again has the Ricoh SP C250DN color laser printer for $69.99 shipped. Me, I've always preferred laser printers, which tend to cost more up front but have a lower total cost per page.
A wireless, duplexing color laser printer for $70 out the door? Yes, please!
